Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year!!!

2009 has not been a very good year for me and so many others. As we ring in 2010, I am optimistic for greener pastures in the future! I wish everyone Health, Hope and Prosperity for the new year, and new decade!

Nor'easter

Well, our weather in South Florida has finally cooled down. I hope it lasts a while. The Northeast is sure taking a pounding, and the airports are in chaos. I feel sorry for all of those who can't get home from their vacation, and the many people that will miss their ship's departure due to canceled flights. A big reason you should ALWAYS purchase travel insurance when cruising. The weather can play a cruel trick, especially on an overpriced Christmas Cruise.

A job on the horizon?

After months of searching, I finally have a job interview on Monday with a cruise line! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get this one, because I could sure use a paycheck! I'll keep you posted!

Snow in Houston?

Wow! It's snowing in Houston! Check out some of the pictures on www.KHOU.com. I lived in Houston for a few years back in the '80's. There is even a lot of snow along the coast, which I find surprising, since the temperature should be a few degrees warmer there. The city took a lot of preventive measures by spraying deicer along the highways yesterday. Hopefully the roads will be clear for all of the cruise passengers embarking and disembarking over the weekend. If not, the trip from the airport to Galveston or the ship channel could turn into an all day affair!

December is upon us...

Hard to believe that December is here tomorrow. Hopefully it will bring me some good news and a badly needed job. On Facebook I see that many of my old cruise colleagues are job hunting too. There is not much out there! "Wave Season" the biggest booking time for cruises starts the beginning of January. None of the companies who are "hiring" even have a training class before January 4, which is scary.  I'll keep my fingers crosses and keep working on my Internet Marketing Cruise and other sites and hope something takes off....

Auction Ending Tonight!

My eBay auction is ending tonight for my Oasis of the Seas Tee shirt. Right now the price is at $34, but 10 people are watching the auction. I am hopeful that it will go higher. If a coke bottle can sell for $111.11 last week, hopefully this shirt can too! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Jay Leno mentions Oasis of the Seas in his Monologue

Last night I was watching Jay Leno, and during his monologue he even made a joke about the Oasis of the Seas! That's pretty unusual! You can watch the episode here:

Oasis of the Seas Update

Lots of people have watched my Oasis of the Seas videos and I have received some funny comments about the abrupt ending when I fell off the "Sand Cliff". I made my own topic on the www.CruiseCritic.com Oasis thread and reposted my videos, the pictures I put on Flickr, and the link to my eBay auction where I have the Oasis shirt listed. I am trying to get more exposure. Right now the price is up to $28. Since there was a bidding war a few days ago over an Oasis Coke bottle that ended up selling for $111.11, I am hopeful.... Come on.... BID!!!!

The Oasis of the Seas Arrives in Port Everglades!

The world's largest cruise ship - Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas arrived in Port Everglades, (Fort Lauderdale) Florida on Friday, November 13, 2009. The ship left the shipyard in Turku, Finland last week, and encountered some rough weather during her crossing across the Atlantic. She was scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, November 11, but was delayed two days because of this. Royal Caribbean had planned a big event at the state park across from Port Everglades. It was supposed to start at 7:00 am when the part opened. I arrived at 6:40 am and I had to park in the third parking lot. Hundreds of people showed up. All of the news channels were there, and there was tons of press. Coffee and donuts were available, but the Seattle's Best insulated coffee cups had already been given away. At some point some Styrofoam cups appeared. Someone must have gone to 7-11. They were also giving away Tee-Shirts. I did get one of those.

I found a great spot and was able to shoot some video and take some pictures. You can check out my video here:

After the park I went to the top of the 17th Street Causway to take some more photos. I'll be posting a link to my photos in the near future.

The weather was incredible and it was a fun day!!!

New Job On The Horizon?

I just returned from a "Preliminary" job interview for a great position at a Cruise Sales Agency. It was just taking a standardized test and an application, but it went as well as it could have possibly gone. I'll keep my fingers crosses on this one!
